Jayasuriya's interest in music began at birth, and by the early nineties, he was absorbing everything he could via FM alternative radio and MTV. As a teen, he developed a deep interest in underground music through releases on Dischord, Jade Tree, and Hydra Head, obsessively frequenting independent record shops. Throughout his twenties, he wrote for a handful of Milwaukee-based publications like The Shepherd Express and Milwaukee Magazine, covering local and national acts, with a focus on artists' influences and creative processes. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIn 2006, while employed at Milwaukee's legendary Atomic Records, he was blindsided after hearing Die Kreuzen's \u003ci\u003eCows and Beer\u003c\/i\u003e 7\", prompting him to further explore their catalog and history.
