    The idea of telling the whole Bible in a manner that allows children to both enjoy and learn its contents was appealing to Hurlbut, who noted the Bible's enduring popularity. As a Methodist minister, Hurlbut had much experience with scripture, and felt that he could interpret the Biblical passages in a new way, that the younger generation can find introduction to the Bible in a manner that is spiritually sound and designed to hold their attention.

    From the creation of the Earth, to Adam and Eve, to the Great Flood, to Moses' exodus from Egypt, we find the Bible's principle stories here. The greatness of King David, the story of Job, and the wealth of King Solomon are told, as is the life of Jesus Christ and the various parables he told to His followers. From the very beginning to the very end, the stories of the Bible are presented in a well-written and carefully crafted manner for the audience.
