ELENA ROSEMOND-HOERR was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina. Her familial roots in North Carolina's foothills and mountains reach back to the early colonies-and she has the heirloom cast iron to prove it. In 2008 she created the Southern food blog Biscuits and Such that started her down a path that would include writing cookbooks and magazine features, and an unexpected career studying and contributing to Southern food culture.
